Week 47: Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl

This book is off the regular beaten track, but if this year has taught me anything, it's that I need to keep an open mind. Especially when there's a bottom on the front cover.

"Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl" was not a diary (so you're aware). It is the story of Nancy, a hooker who serves high-profile clients, who is also engaged to marry someone who doesn't know her secret.

We all know that the world is full of weirdos and that everyone has secrets. The surprises in this book had less to do with the sexual excursions and more about the actual management of Nancy's business. A professional through and through, Nancy has her challenging clients but holds to a strict code of conduct. When a meddling future sister-in-law threatens Nancy's freedom and independence, she attempts to bring her world back on track. At the same time, she's trying to figure out how she's going to make a living after she gets married.

An interesting read, but missing some momentum.
