Week 50: Small is the New Big by Seth Grodin

Well, I'm almost there, just two more books to go, and I'm right on schedule!

Seth Godin is a bestselling author and an enormously interesting guy. He is an active blogger as well, and this book is a compilation of many of his most popular rants about business and the way it is conducted. Some of the situations that he describes seem funny, but aren't really (when you get down to it). In this blog compilation, he questions everything in traditional business, and finds himself coming up with some really cool new ideas. I would like to challenge myself to think more like him.

Seth's larger segments bored me. In fact, when I saw that some of them spanned more than a few pages, I began to skip them altogether. He lost his point in some of them when he didn't keep them simple. After all, the book was about getting back to basics.

This is the first time I have actually read a published blog - in a book (obviously) - and although I enjoyed it, there were times when Godin made reference to something I wouldn't have been able to know unless I was a) the biggest fan of his literature or b) a blog follower with whom he had an active dialogue.

Pick it up if you want to get a brighter - and perhaps more realistic - look at the world.
