Book 84: Fat Girl by Judith Moore

“Fat Girl” was the morbidly fascinating account of a woman’s life as an obese person. It is a true story, and to me, it was highly disturbing. The author makes it clear from the beginning that she is not writing because she wants pity, rather, she is writing to make people better understand her perspective.

Sadly, in addition to having an obesity problem, the author also had a deserter for a father and an abuser for a mother. Her grandmother was not much better. Throughout her life, she was ignored and abused, and unprotected. She eventually became the victim of sexual abuse.

This book is not pretty, not kind, and was not written to help anyone with their problems. It is a peek into the mind and heart of a person with obesity. It is a window into a cold and heartless world.
